Functional
Training for Speed & Strength: Every sport has different requirements even though some may be similar.
In football,
the average player will cover approximately 15 - 20 yards on any given
play (more for receivers). Football players also need to train for
repetitive explosive speed at 15 to 20 yard intervals.
In basketball & soccer, speed is important but stamina/endurance is
even more important. These athletes are required to run up and
down the court/field repeatedly. The point being is that you must engage in activity specific training or functional training for sports.
Different sports require different types of strength also. Serious
athletes know that they need to be the fastest, strongest, quickest,
and most agile athlete on the field in order to excel. Functional
training for sports is how you get there.
The Bottom Line:
Functional training for sports is how
you excel. The right training will help you develop the specific
tools you need for your sport and your position within the sport, game
or race season. From explosive speed to stamina and power, every
sport has different requirements. If you are ready to be 2X Better, you are ready for functional training at Tiger.

The pleasures of the holiday
season
are many but the pain can be equally powerful come January when we
realize the damage we've done. This year wouldn't it be nice to not have
regrets for a change? Team Tiger gives you tips for getting through the
holidays without those extra 10 pounds. Are you in? 1)
Staying optimally fueled through out the day is key. During this time
people often start to starve themselves, which is actually the worst
thing you can do. Make sure to eat five small meals a day. 2) Think
preventatively. Go to the gym before you eat so you've already raised
your metabolism. If you exercise for an hour it's not just about that
hour, you're still burning more calories throughout the day. 3) Enjoy yourself on the special day, but the next day get back on track with your nutrition. It's all psychological. P.S. Don't do leftovers. 4) Add more cardio than usual to your workout so you burn more calories. 5)
If you're not hungry don't eat. So often you think you're hungry
but you're not - you're thirsty. Stay hydrated. Target eight
8-ounce glasses of H2O a day. 6) No guilt. Think reward.

 The Hardcore Hoodie. Part
nylon, part merino, the SmartWool TML Full Zip hoodie takes the best
attributes of both: It's snug and stretchy but has the natural
softness, temperature control, and or-fighting properties of
merino. For maximum warmth and minimal bulk, this piece is a true
fleece alternative and considered a mid-layer. It just won the 2011 Gear of the Year
award by Men's Journal Magazine. Available in both men's and
women's in multiple color combinations. Our favorite detail is the
"runner/skiier thumb hole"....we love this detail, it keeps your hands
warm and prevents the sleeves from crimping up! Good things come
with a price tag, generally. ($190; smartwool.com) Looking for a more affordable option for a stocking stuffer? Try the SmartWool Outdoor Sport Lightweight Micro Socks
for running, cycling, hiking, climbing in the heat or cold!
Prices range from $14.99 +.
